What is Brasillinois?

Brasillinois is an initiative launched by the University of Illinois System aimed at fostering collaboration between American higher education institutions and higher education institutions and government agencies in Brazil. It encompasses a student mobility program and the establishment of research clusters focusing on themes such as climate and sustainability, medicine and public health, and social inclusion.

What are the objectives of Brasillinois?

Brasillinois aims to create a new model of collaboration between American and Brazilian institutions by facilitating research connections, increasing student and faculty exchanges, and building institutional partnerships. It seeks to address various global challenges, including those related to climate change, healthcare, and social equity.

How will the student mobility program work?

The student mobility program will bring over 100 Brazilian undergraduates and doctoral students to the University of Illinois System's universities over the next few years. Undergraduates will spend a semester in Illinois, while doctoral students will be classified as visiting scholars for a period ranging from three to 10 months. Additionally, faculty members participating in the program will have opportunities to visit Brazilian partner universities to strengthen academic collaboration. They will apply through Capes to be involved.

How can institutions or individuals get involved with Brasillinois?

Institutions and individuals interested in participating in Brasillinois can explore opportunities for collaboration, such as joint research projects, student exchange programs, and faculty partnerships. They can also stay updated on upcoming events and initiatives related to Brasillinois through official channels and communications from the University of Illinois System. The clusters will be set up in the early fall.
