Brasillinois and FAPESP Call for Proposals


Request for Proposals: FAPESP and Brasillinois Collaborative Research Grant

The University of Illinois System Brasillinois Initiative announces the FAPESP and Brasillinois Collaborative Research Grant, a funding opportunity that supports research collaboration with faculty at universities and public research institutions based in São Paulo, Brazil.

  • Funding Period: 2025-2027
  • Award: Up to $20,000 (Brasillinois) and $20,000 (FAPESP) per selected proposal.
  • Eligibility: The PI should be an academic staff member or post-doctoral researcher at University of Illinois Systems with a contract of employment for the full length of the proposed project. Projects by UIUC faculty and researchers may be co-sponsored by the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies.

Applicants must submit the following materials to Brasillinois by February 15, 2025:

Application Submission Process

Proposals will be submitted for concurrent review by FAPESP and the University of Illinois.  Applicants should follow the guidelines in the FAPESP Call for Proposals and SAGe application portal.  The complete proposal for both Illinois and São Paulo collaborators should be first submitted to the SAGe portal.  A PDF of that completed application should then be sent, along with the other materials listed above, to sandora3@uillinois.edu

Matchmaking Information

Illinois researchers interested in identifying research partners in São Paulo can use the Virtual Library of FAPESP. It is possible to search for information regarding Grants and Scholarships awarded by FAPESP, including abstracts, as well as the names of participating researchers and their institutions.
