Our Completed Work

SHIELD Illinois Shutdown

Throughout its operational tenure, SHIELD Illinois administered more than 7.2 million tests.

In accordance with SHIELD Illinois' strategic decision to conclude operations at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, OSI is dedicated to meticulously overseeing the closure process. This comprehensive effort involves the systematic winding down of personnel, laboratories, testing operations, partnerships, technology, data, and associated processes, leading to the structured closure of SHIELD's operations.

Process Improvements for DPI & IDPH

Our efforts extend to driving process improvements for both the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), reflecting our commitment to optimizing operational efficiency through these vital institutions.

Distributing Air Purifiers to Illinois Daycares

In partnership with IDPH, OSI distributed a two-year supply of air purifiers to approximately 2,220 day care centers across Illinois.

With critical coordination and volunteer support by the Will County Emergency Management Office, the distribution of air purifiers and antigen tests has created a safer and healthier learning environment for students and staff, reflecting OSI’s commitment to advancing public health goals.

Equitable Access to High School Courses

In an ongoing collaboration with the Illinois Virtual Schools and Academy (IVSA), our initiative is actively advancing to provide high-quality online courses not only for high school students but also for diverse communities, including rural and low-income areas. Our efforts are geared towards empowering students with access to college-level coursework, offering a continuous pathway to earn valuable college credits and expand educational opportunities.

By promoting equity across Illinois, we ensure that every student has access to the same courses, regardless of their school's limitations. This not only enhances college readiness but may also contribute to lowering college tuition by inspiring more students to engage in AP courses.
