About
The University of Illinois System has launched a new program called Transfer Drive. It is designed to support community college students preparing to transfer to UIC and complete their four-year degree. The program includes access to a dedicated Transfer Coordinator, performance-based financial support, and coordinated advising between Harold Washington and UIC, ensuring students remain on track toward completion of an associate degree and successful transfer to UIC.

Eligibility?
Who is eligible for UIC's Transfer Drive? Students must meet the following criteria:
- A new Fall 2026 full-time Harold Washington College student
- Committed to meeting all UIC admission
- Eligible for need-based financial aid
Apply
The Fall 2026 application is now open. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 7. Applications will be reviewed in mid-September, and decisions will be released the week of September 21.
Transfer Drive participants are not guaranteed admission into UIC. Students may be eligible for guaranteed admission through the University of Illinois System Transfer Guarantee or the University of Illinois Chicago Transfer Admission Guarantee.

Eligibility
Who is eligible for Transfer Drive? Students who:
- Preference will be given to students who demonstrate eligibility for need.
- Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
- Must be an Illinois Resident
- Must have an interest in transferring to UIS by Fall 2027 or Fall 2028

The program includes access to a dedicated Transfer Coordinator, performance-based financial support, and coordinated advising between Elgin and UIUC, ensuring students remain on track toward completion of an associate degree and successful transfer to UIUC.
Eligibility
Who is eligible for UIUC's Transfer Drive? Students must meet the following criteria:
- Be an ECC 509 in-district resident
- Be eligible for state or federal need-based financial aid
- Be in good academic standing and actively enrolled in an approved transfer degree program
- Have an interest in transferring to UIUC for Fall 2027 or Fall 2028 and is committed to working toward meeting all UIUC transfer admission requirements
