Jennifer Stevens
Assistant Director, State Relations
Jennifer Stevens joined the University of Illinois System in February 2025 as the Assistant Director of State Relations. With over fourteen years of legislative experience, Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Her career began in 2011, when she served on the Illinois House Research and Appropriations staff. She has since held various policy and legislative liaison positions for numerous state agencies, including the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Central Management Services, Historic Preservation Agency, and the Department on Aging.
Before joining the University of Illinois System, Jennifer was an Executive Director at a sub-specialty management company, further honing her leadership skills. As Assistant Director of State Relations, she serves as the lead advocate for the University of Illinois System in the Capitol, collaborating closely with the Governor’s office, members of the General Assembly, and the U of I System legislative caucus.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Speech Communications from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield. She is deeply committed to her community, actively participating in several local organizations. Jennifer currently resides in Mt. Zion, IL, with her husband and three young sons.
